Belt Tensioner Pin

Can anyone recommend a method for removing the pin that holds back the spring on a Gen 1 timing belt tensioner? I am doing a 3.2 swap and need to remove the pin from the block of the 3.0 and install in the 3.2 block. I have tried vice grips without any success.
