Are you talking about the wheel bearings? Strut bearings? More information will net you a detailed answer.

In general, don't pound on them, use a torque wrench and retorque after a few miles.

The front wheel bearings are pressed. Your not going to do these yourself without the right tools and equipment.

Do yourself a favor and do a search regarding the replacing of the front wheel bearings. Gen II and Gen III SHOs have a hub and wheel bearing that is replaced as an assembly. Gen I SHOs have a bearing in the steering knuckle that has to be pressed out, and the knuckle pressed onto the bearing. For the correct proceedure, what tools are needed, etc. for duing this, see PJ Toledos threads, or mine, or SD Patt's and others.

The proceedure for taking the steering knuckle off of the car, and putting it back together, is also extensively discussed in past threads. Do the search and then ask about whatever you do not understand, if anything. there is even a link to the Auto Zone on-line description of the proceedure, which is a reprint from a service manual.

So, try the search function and then we will walk you through whatever you are not sure about. rangerj
