I took off my appearence cover today and wanted to check to see if my IMRC cable wasn't broken.

When I rev'd up my car to 35000 rpms, the IMRC pulled the cable and it seemed to be working, but from what I hear, you're supposed to actually hear the secondaries open, this I do not with my car.

Is there something else that could be wrong?

I do have the P1518 code, which Paul said it was the IMRC stuck open?

When the car is idling and you are looking at the secondary linkage if you quickly go WOT and immediately release the throttle you should see the secondaries operate twice.

Some cars you can hear it, others you can't. Really dirty intakes can muffle the sound, where a clean intake it's very obvious.

They do, they open and then close. It's just a little twitch though, it's not gradual, but opens quickly, which I think is what it's suppose to do.

Mr. Anonymous-
My car has about 115k miles on it, which probably has a decent amount of carbon build-up (I haven't checked yet), when I clean that out, the sound will be clearly noted?

I dont know if you have ever ridden in a gen 1 or 2 SHO before but the sound of the V6 secondaries opening is pretty much on par with the V8s. My friend's 98 is very noticeable. Its the best when we are next to a highway divider doing around 3000 rpms in 2nd gear. Keep it in 2nd and mash the throttle. It sound wicked. :dribble:

Best thing to do with the Gen 3 secondaries is to throw them in the trash.

I only really heard mine once I slapped a cone filter on there. Remove that sax and go out and give it a good ol' Italian tune up and you should be able to hear them without a problem.

With stock intake, except a K/N panel the change in sound is very noticable from insde the car in any gear at 3400 rpm Not to mention You can feel the change as the secondaries open.Go for a ride,if you dont feel or hear any thing at 3400 rpm I would guess they are stuck. Good Luck
