done correctly as opposed to what ? cause turning SBB's in BBB's Is quite hard to muck up. even if you overbored them they would still function properly.

only set i have ever seen done wrong were bored out but then stock plates were reinstalled.

They're a SHOForum member, but I can't recall their name on here.

Nick, you just answered your own question.

Would that make a ton of difference? The butterflies only close to block air off, some people run no butterflies and lose a bit of torque, I'd imagine that running a gap around closed butterflies would flow less than missing butterflies.

You might lose a bit of low end torque compared to properly done BBBs, but you still get the benefit at high RPM.

opening the housings up a bit to far and running the proper oversize plates: you would never notice a difference compared to "done correctly"

opening the housings up and sticking stock plates back in ... eeeh, might loose a few ft/lb down real low, but its such a hack way to go about it. all that time / effort and to do it right would only cost an extra $20

Also to add, the short runners will fill up with junk from your PVC system if there not sealing closed. The lower velocity of the air passing will tend to have more time to condense and build up. Just a theory of mine. The BBB's I have made all have new plates installed and seal up very well.

I agree, definitely a hack job to just leave the stock plates in, but it won't really affect performance. I wonder if the PCV thing would actually matter. Better off running a catch can instead of throwing all the oil back into the intake though anyway.

It's 1993MTXSHO on the forum. Met him personally a bunch of times, I think those are the BBB's he's had on his car for a long time.

Not THE set as those were sold with my car, but it's one of the few sets I have left (not used after bore) that were built the same way. I never had an issue with them and didn't have any low end tq loss. IMO screw it, it wouldn't hurt to have some extra air in the primarys after you're modded.

EDIT: fwiw the plates instlled are 40MM plates, NOT the stock 37mm plates.
