Agree. The platform is outstanding for its day especially considering they went with semi-active suspension.

Rebuilt transmissions can handle an increase in power and actually get it to the pavement. The V-8 community really could use the original intake.

I wish Ford would see fit to put the running gear of the Gen IV SHO, that is the twin turbo and AWD, into a coupe with a respectable suspension. If they did, I would not be looking at G37 coupes or maybe a 911 C4S.

Paul's point about Ford and support and marketing (or lack thereof) seems to me right on target, by the way.

Lincoln LS's wikipedia page: "The V8 was not offered as a manual because the Getrag could not handle the torque produced."

Also, it was ~250hp, in a car that weighed ~3700lbs, and was "borrowed" from jaguar. Not to say they weren't great cars, but Ford wasn't exactly out-doing itself with the LS.

The problem with the BBB on the V8 was the horns were still the same size. Without the horns the car is considerable slower in the lower rpms.

this is only my second of so post. but i really think that we should continue to talk about this, i know that im thread resurrecting but this one is worth it, a lot of great info here and even someone said that they were working on something, is there a reason that we cant take a close look at the original design and then tweak it using more modern technology?

I'm not sure. But if anyone wants to buy a V8 BBB LIM, PM me, I've got one sitting around.

Most people here (myself included) lack the money and resources to make that happen in a reproducible tooling method.

With that said, with enough measurements, money, time and tools you could probably engineer a custom intake similar to the mythical one I keep seeing photos of.

that is interesting, with all the info its hard to believe no has made anything, everyone on here loves this car and talks about it potential. im not putting anyone down because to make it would take time money and a lot of skill, ( skill i dont have personal) but it would be great to see someone do something different with this car.

hmmm.... I wonder how if we could modify the upper and lower intake on the 4.4 volvo v8 engine. I think there could definitely be gains there if you could get it to fit on there.

This is a great thread. I enjoyed reading it. I love my 98. Really even more so than my 91 and 92. I wish there were more mods or a intake that can be bolted on to make it be what it should have been.
