I did do a search first, so if I missed something go ahead and cane me. Anyways, last wednseday the battery light came on. at about 5500rpms the battery light will go out. The alt. and battery are about a year old. Friday I took the alt. in to Larry's alt. shop, he said it tested fine. Yesterday I drove to napa, and had the battery tested. test = 100% health and 25% charge. The muli-meter results are as followed; both fuse blocks across both sides of fuses test at 12v. Battery with car running = 11.7v (not good) voltage reg. plug on alt. has voltage.
Is there any known issues with a 95 or do I keep fishing until my hair falls out?

I haven't climbed under yet, but on the top side they don't look too bad. I know I need to check them though. Did you have to replace yours?

If the battery and alternator test fine then your cables are the most likely culprit. Change them out, it takes less than 30 minutes.

14.4V is what you should have on the batt engine running.

Check wires for corrosion / loose connections.

If not Im pretty sure your alt is giving up (even if it tested good) . Specially if it comes from Napa.

I have noticed now that the battery light is more likely to come on during acceleration from a stop. Then it tends to go out once I get groovin, maybe flicker back a little, but acceleration from a stop is when I see it most.

Yes you are correct, as a matter of fact I forgot to test my output voltage on the alt. and it was only 11.7 also. new alt. will be here tommorrow. Took alt. back to larry's alternator for verification, and he said "yup, bad alt. sorry bout that"

Acceleration from a stop is when the most voltage is required by the engine... injectors firing longer, spark plug wires firing more often, etc etc... the engine doesn't require much voltage at cruise.

Makes me wonder about my alternator. I was experiencing similar symptoms. Alt tested fine but battery was bad. Replaced the battery and all was fine. No more light.

I visited an alternator shop yesterday and they seemed very knowledgeable. They tested my battery and alt. The guy said the light comes on when the alt is not working properly, and is off when its generating enough juice to satisfy the sensor,or whatever. Anyway, they said they can repair mine for $120 but I have to bring them the alt, they don't do removal and re-installation. So, I'm now led to believe the alt is dying, slowly. Car still starts fine, etc, but I gotta get a plan to fix this pretty soon.

More you wait , more likely you'll destroy the battery's life span. Wait too long and the batt AND the alt will need a replacement.

Believe me I know, the fact that the battery is pretty much new is probably what's keepin me going w/no problems right now. I need someone locally who can remove it and then put it back in it for me after I have it repaired, unless it's just so damn easy even a dummy like me can do it. But I gotta get it out and to the alt shop.

u know how to do this frosho? :naughty:
