i am getting a battery when i put the key in. the car will start up fine but the alt is not putting out. this is the 4th alt in 5 months, I had the alt checked at autozone and it turned out to be fine, I have also replaced the alt connector, i got the connector from ford , but it has 3 wires instead of 2. so the middle wire i did not use. I even replaced the battery just because it was old anyways. What could be causing this? Is there a way to hook up the alt directly to the battery, that way i can verfiy if it is a bad ground or something.
Please help the car has been sitting for months because of this problem!

FWIW I have had bad experiences with AutoZone, PepBoys alternators in the past. Try a NAPA or Ford reman one.

The alternator is grounded through the case. Make sure the MEGA fuse is in good shape and it is tight on the mount.
