Wife just bounced my 94MTX off a manhole cover and now the battery light is on and the tach is freaking out. Any suggestions on where to start looking for the problem? Fuses are good, everything works fine, and the battery doesn't seem to be going down, but I have to drive it to work early tomorrow and don't want to get stranded. Any suggestions? I have had this car for two days so I am not familiar where everything is yet.

Crazy tach usually points to a cam position sensor.. Did anything on the car hit when she hit the cover, or just the tire?

It bounced off the front cross member. No damage to anything underneath that I could see.

battery is brand new,but I will test the alternator. I would think everything would be running wrong if it was the alternator. The lights aren't dimming and the motor isn't acting up. Thanks

Battery and alternator are doing what they are supposed to do according to my cheap ass analog multimeter, but I could be reading it wrong. It's late,I'm tired, and I have to work tomorrow so it's just going to have to wait. Thanks guys.

Ok...had the alternator tested by someone who knows what they are doing and it looks like the voltage regulator took a **** on me. Looks like I will be going to the parts store tomorrow. On the bright side the old regulator came off fairly easily.
