I switched to a Diehard AGM battery after my first battery failed, and the cables were corroded and crusty. Since, then no problem with corrosion and the last AGM battery has lasted five years since I keep it on a battery maintainer when sitting for more than a day.

odyssey northstar or any other enersys TPPL type agm battery would be at the top of my list for agm-capable vehicles. optima is not likely to work out well.

if you find battery draining on you just sitting there, you may want to consider enabling dark mode just like LEO vehicles have. and/or a maintainer.

What is this "dark mode" you speak of?

Not sure if this is available in all Fords but it looks like it is available in Explorer, F150, and Taurus.

Whether or not it is only available in PI vehicles or is available inside the programming of all the vehicles and is activated from the factory/dealer for PI I don't know. Worth poking into

I've had good luck with my third DEKA 9A65. First one died after 90 days and the initial replacement showed up damaged. I don't think I'll ever have a battery shipped again after the nightmare I had returning these two.

I guess that doesn't sound like much of an endorsement, haha. Make sure to reset the BLM regardless of which one you purchase.

It is available in ForScan for the Taurus. Dark mode disables the horn honk for lock/unlock, parking light flash for lock/unlock, and interior lights when entering/exiting the vehicle. Parking lights still come on for remote start and interior lights still come on if the ignition is on and a door is opened. It is for "stealthy" approaches when arriving on scene, etc. I am not sure how it would help battery drain issues.

I have dark mode enabled from forscan. It just makes it so when a door is open no interior lights will come on. They still work when you push them on.
Another black out mode i have is on a switch that disables the circuit for the brake lights, hope i never have to use it

dark mode is proven to work. check gjkrisa posts over at ecoboostperformanceforum.com

may not be available for 2010-2012 MYs but def 2013+ with the introduction of the interceptor.

i too had bad experience with shipped batteries. am able to pick up odyssey locally at 4 wheel / offroad type stores.

If you can link any of those posts, I would be curious to read them. I could not find them. I went through the 5 pages of posts he started. There was one about battery drain but he was setting a module to Inop that has nothing to do with dark mode.

A few months after that post (second page of this post) is when he discussed setting the RFA module Pass Configuration to "INOP". That is the most I could find that he did to eliminate the drain. He says doing this though means you have to leave a key in the programming pocket in the center console.
