Hello, I'm a somewhat of a newbie to SHO's but I've always been a fan. Well yesterday I was driving and I went by a dealership and they had a v8 SHO that I was wanting to look into. I just had a few basic questions on them.

Where would be the best place to get the cams fixed at?

What all mods do they offer for v8's and where could I find them at?

What 1/4 mile times do they get?

What kind of gas mileage should I expect?

Thanks in advance.

First off, check this out: V8SHO.com Spend some time browsing around. It's worth every second you spend reading.

For cam welding, check this link: Cam Welders

Not too many bolt-on performance mods for the V8. The first steps would be removing the intake silencer, dropping in a K&N filter (or making a CAI with a cone filter), and replacing the stock mufflers with some performance mufflers.

Suspension mods are a blast. Bigger sway bars help reduce body roll very well. Most people are happy with the stock struts and springs. Adding solid subframe bushings or using the OEM rear bushings at all four corners helps turn-in and steering accuracy.

The brakes on the V8SHO are awesome. Just getting some good pads really goes a long way.

1/4-mile times are generally in the mid-15s. These are not good 1/4-mile cars. There are a few factory freaks that can squeak into the 14s with some light mods, a good launch, and favorable environmental conditions.

Gas mileage is GREAT on the highway, generally 25mpg or better. Some people report 28-29mpg under ideal conditions. Around town mileage varies greatly. 17-19 is about average if you DON'T have a lead foot. If you do, expect anywhere from 11-15mpg.
