I drove my 92 sho about 10 minutes to a friends house in early morning when it was around 55 degrees and i noticed steam coming from the engine when i pulled in. so i parked my car and popped the hood and could hear what sounded like a slow drip leaking onto something hot and making steam. im thinking bad water pump becuase it was right around the serpentine bbelt area. i didnt see any antifreeze on the ground though. any other ways to check without taking the car in for diagnostics?

The water pump is a good guess, but it is not a sure thing. Try to get your hands on a "dentist's mirror" and look up underneath the water-pump snout where the weep hole is located. There will be a "trail" where the water was running.

Get a loan-a-tool pressure tester from AA and presurize the system. Then look for the coolant leak with a bright light and mirror.
