Bad radio quality

I had to disconnect the unit on the drivers side of the trunk as the base sounds from the JBL system were distorted. What should I do next? Can I replace just this unit and what is it?

It's almost a 99.99999% chance that you blew your subwoofer out. The speakers were made of paper. Search "subwoofer replace"; there are literally JILLIONS AND JILLIONS AND GAZILLIONS of threads out there on what you can do - repair the speaker, hog the hole out and install an 8" woofer (let's be honest, it's not a subwoofer until at least 10"), or ditch the whole shebang and get an aftermarket amp and sub (the best route).
