So my check engine light comes on all the time, and the codes tell me that its bad EGR flow. I yanked my TB off and I was a little confused as to what to clean out. I was told the bottom two passages.

These?

This is more of an angle looking up in the intake

If thats the case, those are almost solid. I poked around at them with the coat hanger, and I might as well be pushing on the pavement. Am I doing something wrong?

Edit: Also, which direction do these holes go? From looking at it, I cant see if they go straight back or if they curve in or what.

Soak it with carb cleaner several times and keep poking with the hanger. It will eventually go through.

Opal,

They are a "T" with a long tunnel coming off of the bottom of the T and going to the EGR valve on the plenum next to the fire wall. Remove the EGR valve so that you can spray B-12 in there also.

I took an air nozzle and put in a bent piece of brake tubing for a new spray tip. Soaked the nostrils in Berryman's B-12 then used the bent end of the brake tubing to chip away and blow out the gunk.

Wire open your throttle body if you don't take the TB off.

If you take your whole intake off and turn it upside down, you will see the two allen head plugs that if removed, will allow you to REALLY clean those passages.

Don't forget to clean the other nostrils too, those are for your idle air and also get carboned up.

So the two nostrils should connect to each other, and then I should be able to find a hole which leads back and around to the EGR vavle?

And what is the size of the bolt that holds teh EGR vavle on?

Yes they are connected together and where they connect there is another "tunnel" on the bottom side of the "right" plenum leading back to the EGR mounting location.

If you were to pull off the intake and flip it upside down you would see the path for the EGR. You might alos want to remove the hex srew on the front of the intake opposite the EGR valve. This also leads to the path and will help when cleaning the path out. If the path is solid then that would explain your EGR problems.
