Passenger side axle went out in my 93 A/T. Replaced axle with new unit, compared with old axle, Its correct. C Clip seems to seat in Tranny. Hard turn pulls the Inboard CV joint out of the tranny... Lower control arm/ball joint needs replaced but still, enough free play to pull the axle from tranny? Seems ominous.. Please advise..

edit:just to clarify, axle is not completely falling from tranny, just popping out about 1 inch so both wheels will just spin.

Sounds like it's just not completely seating in trans. Remove C-clip and compare how far the axle will push into the trans.

Put a jack under the oilpan with a sheet of plywood for cushion. Pump the handle a few times and make sure the engine is not moving too much.

A PAIR of bad motor mounts might cause your problem.

So far, this was what I was leaning towards.. Axle was definitely seating fully, just popping out. Tranny will spin wheels in gear when front end is still up in the air after axle swap. Only when put on ground will the axle pop... Definite free play in driveline when dropping into gear..

Priced the mounts.. Expensive little guys.. Car is currently stuck in a place where I can't jack it up. Would like to get mounts ordered ASAP. Can you suggest which mounts are the most likely culprits? I bought this car from a Trans shop auction less than 1k miles after it had had a 2.5K tranny rebuild. Car did sit for two years after tranny job.

Thank you.

I would also replace the LCA. If it has enough play, it could also pull the axle out. Try jacking the engine up and down and see how much movement you have in your mounts before replacing them as well. I've also seen axles get pulled out when the mounts are aligned incorrectly, but I don't think you can do this on an SHO.... Just start with the LCA, since you know it's bad aleady...
