I'm about to remove the evaporator from my 93 ATX. last season I had system recharged with dye added. system worked great shortly but freon leaked out in a couple of days. we looked all over for signs of the dye, can't find any at all. I'm guessing it has to be the evaporator. I remove entire evap/heater core box from my brothers 92 Taurus to practice. A/C in that car would freeze you out. I'm going to remove entire box from the SHO and install this 92 box. I probably will swap in a new heater core just to be safe. my question is, is this a common problem for the evaporator leaking? has anyone had to change their evaporator core? I'll hate like **** to do all this work and find out the evap. was not the problem.

I've never heard of that...

Look under the front of the car...under the battery tray...that lower fitting is the cause of all my A/C headaches...it's not made anymore either..

You can use the BDA I believe they will interchange. As far as evap leak, I've only done a few in Ford's. 2 being gen 1 tauri, the rest in rangers. if you wanna be sure, find the evap drain on the firewall and inspect for dye there. if its that big of a leak, its sure to have dye in the case. Also does your car smell like mildew with the vent/A/C on? if so its a sure sign.

Did you use a black light to look for the dye?

I've never seen an evap core leak. O-rings yes, but the core itself never.

Find the leak rather than just hanging parts.
