Ok i have been looking for an atx sho tranny on ebay. Cause when i get the cash(Taxes)i'm going to get the doug lewis (bullet proof tranny)that he sells. I thought i would start there first. Cause i have been trying to get the stuff togther for the engine. But i thought i would get the tranny done and out of the way first before i start on the engine. since on the atx sho's the atx is the weakest link.. O and if u ask me y i just don't take the tranny out of mine sho right now. It is because it is my daily driver. And i can't have it down for a while, while the tranny is shipped to doug and then shiped back and then put it back in.. Thats what i'm doing with my engine also. I already bought a junked 3.2 that i'm build up..So then i can still drive the sho and build it up at that same time!! :D

Thanks again

OK Brad, I had to re-read your post 7-8 times to figure out what you are saying, but I think I got it now! eek!

First, the '93s use an SHO-specific version of the AXODE tranny. The '94-'95s use an SHO-specific AX4S (although the oil pan and valve body covers for all '93-'95s still say AXOD).

AKAIK, Doug doesn't rebuild your tranny specifically -- he gets a factory reman from Ford and then adds the TransGo kit along with a few of his 'top secret' changes. So, you wouldn't need to send him your tranny in advance, you would just have to pay the core charge. Then once you get the tranny and your local shop installs it (you can expect to be down 3-5 days depending on the shop), you send him the old tranny and he refunds the core charge.

Most places, and I think Doug would be the same, don't usually accept 'junkyard cores'.

I mean it wasn't going to be a junkyard tranny. I was looking at some on ebay that are refabed... IDK. So how much would the core charge be on the tranny for doug?
