axle problem

i have a 94 3.2L, i am trying to install a new right side axle. the axle will go into the tranny, groves line up. i pushed it in as far is it will go, with force and it seems like it will not "click" into place? what do you guys suggest?

Once you push it in, does it come out easily?

the old one that i took out was hard to take out.. i had to give it a good tug to get it removed. the new one doesn't seem to want to stay in for some reason. I even tried hitting it with a plastic hammer to see if i could get it to seat correctly, it felt like it was in but no luck once i went to drive it, i called the part store and they are getting me a different one to try.. but i thought there would maybe be something else wrong. maybe it was a bad clip on the saft?

Does the old shaft still have the c clip on it?
How does the new c clip look?

Sometimes you really gotta give them the business.

I believe that I was able to get it seated correctly, i just used a plastic hammer to beat the $hit out of it lol.. it hasnt fallen out yet.. so thats a good sign.. thanks though for your help.. best SHO forum out there
