When the car is in drive, it feels like it shakes more than it used to, when in neutral, the shaking is there, but not as apparent. The go forward gears feel worse than the go backward one. When driving in the lower rpm range (1k-2k), you can feel it shaking as you move forward, get above 2k, it "feels" fine. No codes for the tranny, just my usual 139, and 225. Whoops, forgot to mention, when I make a turn, you hear this noise, you know, like the ones they use in old movies to open large metal doors. Kind of a creek/howl mix.

HELP!

The shaking wouldn't have anything to do with the axles IMHO. That would be an engine management issue or a mount issue. The noise during turning could be your pump, the rack, tie rods, axles, or SFB issues. Axles usually make a clicking or grinding noise while turning..

I noticed that my exhaust hangers are just about shot, and need to be replaced quickly as do my motor mounts. I checked my oil and noticed I'm a quart low, and I just changed my oil about a month ago...oil looks nice and clean still, but I'm wondering where I'm leaking. I added another quart when I got to work this morning, but haven't had the chance to go drive it around to see if the sound is still there. I do smoke a bit, but that's power steering fluid burning (I have a leak in the hose going to the rack), but this in itself could be causing the noise too. I guess if I have the time I'll get under it this weekend and check it out. Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks guys.

An axle is not going to cause a shake when the car is not moving as the axles are not turning....

A bad axle or c/v will cause clunking in turns and vibration at road speeds. I have had two axles vibrate at or around 30mph and higher. From what you describe I don't think its a axle either.

Another possible culprit would be hub bearings...these seem to wear out between 100-160k on most SHO's. Do a search on this if you want to check yours....lots of good info here. I have had hub bearings make lots of strange/bad noises...
