Hey guys,
I've got a quick question. I recently found out that the red light on my dash to the left of my steering wheel is surprise eek! a switch! I knew my car had a factory alarm on it, but the guy I bought it from said it was disabled and the remotes didn't work. Well, I replaced the battery in my remotes, and after some trial and error with the switch, I got it to work, and also sound the alarm when the trunk is opened, and also if a door handle is pulled up. But, I could not get it to go off with 'motion' that is, shaking the car like crazy, and the alarm still doesn't go off. I've read that there is a sensitivity adjustment somewhere, and I was wondering if anybody is sure where this would be located on my 1993 MTX. I looked in the trunk and couldn't find anything I thought to be the adjuster. Also, is there any way to use the autolamps with the alarm?? If I arm the system when the lamps are still on, when they turn off, the alarm will go off. I don't need to use the autolamps, I just really love that feature of our cars :) :) Anyways, any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

I believe with the stock alarm, you only get the features you have descibed. I know I haven't been able to set off Karen's alarm in her 99 by rocking it or what not.

Check under the dash on the drivers side for a shock sensor -- it's probably tie-wrapped to one of the wiring harnesses. If it's the Ford (System 4) factory system, there should be a **** (potentiometer) for adjusting sensitivity. I've not seen a problem with the autolamps and factory alarms, although the System 4 can be installed aftermarket and someone might have incorrectly tied in the dome light lead to the autolamp switch.

theres not a shock sensor on it. the main thing the theft light is there for is as a detourant. the only time the horn (alarm) will sound is if the keys are left in the ignition and all the doors are locked, and you open the door with a key or any other forign object. at least thats the only time i have set it off on the 99.

Just joined the SHO,('94) I have a light to the right of the steering wheel that doesn't seem to do anything. I have messed with it and pulled the red lens off exposing a bulb surrounded by a spring. Is this like yours if so what did you do to get it working? There is sticker on the back driver side door that says the car is equiped with the alarm, but....
