I tried replacing the autolamp switch but it still doesnt work (this is on my 92 MTX). What else could be wrong that the autolamp feature isnt working??

I believe there is a relay somewhere behind the dash for that [89 had it behind the glove box].

Mine didn't work correctly soon after I got my car. I found the relay in behind the radio. On the glove box side. You can check to make sure thats OK. Also the sensor is on the dash on the drivers side, you can pop up the little cover and check that out. But I think if that was bad they would be on all the time.

Sorry to bring back an old thread but where is the autolamp relay on a 91 located? How do you identify it?

im not sure how to properly identify it, but if you have a service manual or check here on the forums under wiring diagrams it will tell you wire colors and the where abouts (usually) on where its located.
i know what it looks like on the 93 SHO, its basicly a little square box the size of the relay that works the sunroof if you know what that looks like.

the other day my got stuck in the on position and nothing would turn them off. The light sensor was bad (on the driver side dash). Yours could be bad and just not outputting a signal. Look at a manual and figure out which wire is the output (not hard...its labled) and test to see if it shows a ground when it is dark out with the ignition on. If not, then the sensor is the problem.

Pretty easy to remove, just pop the pannel off and remove the two 7mm screws.
