Auto Trans External Dimension Question

Hi trying to pickup an automatic transmission(ax4s) but I do not have a truck to haul it. Will it fit in a new SHO trunk??? the opening is about 18X36 with an internal height of 24 inches. Wondering if anyone could measure one up quick if they have one lying around and let me know if it would go.

I'm like 99.999% sure I've heard of people putting ATXs in SHO trunks before. IIRC it's a fairly common occurrence.

I'm sure it'll fit, but it's heavy, and has fluid in it. Not sure I would put it in a new cars trunk.

Thanks for the responses. I have a big piece of shrinkwrap from my boat so fluid wont be a problem. And how heavy 300 lbs?? Thats equivalent of 2 ppl in back seat. Just wanted to be sure it goes in before i drive 6+ hours to get it.....never shoulda turned in my fx4 f150

shrinkwrap will not stop fluid leaking from any automotive part, it will leak. set it in a hi-sided tub of sorts, use lots of cardboard or better yet, medical pads. those things soak up gallons of liquid.

I put one in the trunk of Pat's trunk once and he hauled it all the way to TX. It was a tight fit but it will go in and come back out.

btw, its about a 3 man job since its heavy and you have to bend awkwardly to get it in there.

I want to say it's about 200lbs, maybe a little less.
