audio not working

all of a sudden my my cd, radio, and tape deck have stopped playing. The display shows the time of the cd played etc, but there is no audio. It is as if the volume is turned down all the way. I can still here the crakle that has always been in my speakers but no music so I don't think all my speakers have gone all at once. It was working fine last week then I put a tape in for the first time in years then days latter it refuses to work. The tape refuses to eject, rw and fw, however the cd will eject. It is the stock JBL for a 1990.

Please help with no radio I have to talk to my girlfriend ALL the time.

it is a problem with the amplifier, in the trunk. probably bad solder connection. take it out and remove the cover and check solder joints....
