It all depends on how nice you are to the transmission. It can technically last a very long time. I hear the '93's were a bit more prone to fail than the 94-95 models though, supposedly they were upgraded or tinkered with by Ford...no idea how though.

As long as you don't do burnouts and beat on it it should be good. And quicker harder shifts are better on the trans as it's less time they're using the clutches and bands, if I remember correctly.

Yes, firmer shifts are better for the trans. Every millisecond a trans spends between gears is a millisecond it's slipping clutches. And slipping clutches wear faster.

My wife's 95 has a hair short of 200,000 miles on the ORIGINAL tranny. They last quite a while if you don't abuse them.

MTX's tend to last longer then the ATX other then the Diff issue. Once you have a Quafie/Wavetrac they last much longer. Also they do not suffer from $3000 rebuilds but they do need the clutch changed from time to time.

True.... 2000 dollars....if you don't take it out yourself... I got a quote on my trans that's out of the car! 800 dollars... Having a shop to this step for you is the killer in it all
