atx trans question

I have a good SHO atx. Will it work for a standard 3.0 gl, or 3.8 lx model?
I don't want to buy a car with a bad trans and find out it wont work. The car on Craiglist http://fresno.craigslist.org/cto/3821060088.html she is willing to sell it for far less than posted. Any help would be awesome!

Yes, it will work. Starting in 93 all ATX Taurus got the AX4S Trans.

no, it will not work. not correctly. the final drive ratio is different and it will not lock up the torque converter and it will set many codes about incorrect ratios.

also, the 3.8 bell housing is completely different and it will not even bolt up.
