Step 17, it just doesn't make any sense to me, I removed the two bolts but the tensioner doesn't seem to move out of its place, is it connected to the pulley or what? Do I have to pull the pulley back and then pull the hydraulic tensioner out? Does it just dangle there? I'm totally stumped right now, I just today got the c-clamp I needed and now I can't do anything, so this bites  Well, thanks for any help, I really need it, I can get this waterpump and crap finished now

When you take the allen wrench back out does it extend again eventually? Is it powered by oil pressure or something? I'm really curious now, and worried, I don't think it went out, I just pulled the allen wrench and it came out super easy

If the piston isn't unloading by itself, it's either blown, or you bent the piston when compressing in a bench vise / similar. If you get stuck, I have a couple ready to ship, email at [email protected] (again, if you get stuck).

The piston is driven by spring pressure only. Two of them actually. If you can push it in easily, it's toast....yeah toast.

Uh oh. :hpoop:

I don't know about the 3.2L SHO, but most other cars I've done wtih this setup, the tensioner piston is spring loaded.

Fred, you wanna step in here?

Well I did it like in the pictures.. damn.. I guess I broke something, but if it was going to I guess it was going to. They said it was hydraulic, I figured it was oil pressure or something. How much do they run? How the heck do you put them in?

Well, I consulted my dad about it, he said when I pulled the allen wrench it went up and tensioned the belt again, I'm going to check it tomorrow, when there's hopefully not a 103 F heat index :bonk:
