Hey Rob, where are you from? Arlington Heights here. I have done it twice. Once on a SHO, once on a Honda Civic. It was a bitch both times. Replacing anything on these cars is a bitch. With that said, I have access to a lift and airtools and would love to help you do it. Let me know.

Hey Mike, I'm up here in Hainesville and I know I'm going to need an ATX rebuild eventually. I've seen you post some info on trannies before and want to know who you would recommend locally for a rebuild??? Also, what should I be doing to prolong the life of my ATX??? Thanks...

Rob,
I just removed and replaced the ATX in my 95' SHO back in November in my garage, no lift. I was told it couldn't be done. It's not as bad as I thought. There are a few tricks such as exhaust removal and reinstallation and hanging the engine and dropping the cradle. E-mail me at [email protected] and I will send you a more detalied procedure as best as I can. By the way, I am looking for a used SHO ATX that needs rebuliding for cheap.

Mike ,

I'm in Batavia. Are you the guy with a lift in his garage? If so your a lucky man, I would love to get one but I have the two car attached garage and I think it would be a little tight in there. I have already started on the car, dropped the exhaust have athe engine hung and the starter removed, also got the top four bell housing bolts out. Tommorrow I'll start on the suspension and sub frame. How do you hold up the steering rack when you drop the sub frame? someone told me if you let it slide down it's a pain to get back in.
