Ok, my 93 ATX has the original AXOD SHO transmission in it with 114 miles. The fluid was changed a little before i bought it. It acts a little funny inbetween 2nd and 3rd gear, it's slipping a little. Lately, I have been babying it because I'm scared the thing will blow and I don't have the money. I have heard that it is much cheaper to re-build it before it blows, fixing the problem before it becomes one. I have also heard things about the Trans-Go kit or something, and I know they made the 94 and 95 ATX's stronger...I want a transmission that will last me a long time and I want to do it before mine blows up...Can someone help me out with all of my options here? Thanks

check out the Jasper transmissions. http://www.jasperengines.com/frames.html
they are steel instead of aluminum so they should last a while, plus the warranty goes to 75,000 miles which is 60,000 more than fords (i think)...
i dunno which one the SHO needs though so if someone does reply.

also the transgo shiftkits change the time it takes to shift. right now the shifts are slowed down because people supposedly dont like the quick shifts the kit will bring. its also better for the transmission. ive heard people say it feels like the tranny is slipping with the kit on but its really just how firm the shifts are. http://www.txchange.com/transgo.htm

I just replaced my ATX w/ a Jasper last week. I cannot recommend their product enough!! The transmission has upgrades that prevent it from slamming into 2nd from 1st (Like when you are coming up on that red light and just before you come to a stop it changes to green and you hit the gas. My Ford ATX used to almost give out whiplash)Further, the Ford warranty is ONLY 12k miles, whereas Jasper has a 3 yr. 75k mile warranty.

My money is with Jasper, as this is my 3rd (and hopefully FINAL) ATX replacement.

So lemme get this right, Jasper sells a whole tranny for the SHO and it's $1791.25 U.S. shipped?? Do I have to send my old Tranny back to them???

That is an amazing amount of money to spend on my $4500 SHO, that is doing exactly what DavidBGano was talking about.
