Ok, I've done searched my butt off in the search catagory for this and came up with nil....
Last night I'm drivin to school when my car shudders and I hear a clunk-clunk.....I pull over and am still running so I start rowing the gear shifter to find that -P is a gear but the car bucks forward an inch and won't go anywhere, -R in neutral now, -N is Drive but ONLY WITH 3rd gear, and -D, -2, -1 are forward gears that wont move forward but kind of make the car buck forward an inch......this is a rebuilt tranny 8k miles ago, I'm callin the shop and previous owner to see if the warranty is transferable, ANYBODY got a clue???? (I drove home in 3rd gear at granny speeds and RPMS... :( )Thanks so much......

Sounds like your shifter linkage has slipped, or possibly a bad MLP (Manual Lever Position) sensor on the tranny (which the shifter linkage connects to). Take a look at where the shifter cable connects to the top of the tranny, just about at the middle rear of the engine compartment. You'll need a flashlight and to wiggle through a few wires and such, but it's pretty easy to find.

Exactly. If you're not comfortable working on the car, it would be an easy fix for just about any mechanic. Mistake buying a SHO? Well, these types of problems happen on 8-year-old cars, regardless of the make/model.
