Are there any additives that can buy time before ATX replacement/rebuild when occassional slight shudder develops upon shift from 1 to 2?

Trying to decide on rebuild or replacement and desire smoothest shift possible between now and then. Also, opinions on rebuild or replacement will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hey. You might try lucas tranny oil, it supposaly helps to eliminate slippage and makes shifting more smooth. I am not sure if it would help but you might look into it.

Have you checked the fluid level? Is the fluid old?

I tried the Lucas Tranny additive when my tranny started to go. It did horrible things and made the tranny much worse. I changed the fluid to get it out of there, and I drove it for a few thousand more miles till a rebuild. But, bottom line my experience with that stuff is that it is crap.

Fluid age & level.....also new question

I have recently flushed, new filter & refilled with Valvoline Mercon/Dexron. Level is full.

Also, there was not too much "junk" on the magnet. Only a little bit of black sludge.

New question.........What about using synthetic fluid? Any chance of improvement there?
