Here's a little back story on the car. I recently picked up a 94' Opal Frost ATX at an auction. Besides a few maintenance issues the car is very solid and the trans seemed to be fine for the little bit they let you move the car. Shifts into first fine and reverse. The problem lies in when leaving the car in drive first pulls just fine with no slips but when it goes to engage 2nd gear there is nothing and it goes into a neutral state. If I leave it in drive and slow down (after it doesn't shift into 2nd) the car will shift back into 1st with no problems. Because there is no slipping in first and it pulls hard as ****, I am not totally convinced it is a for sure tranny issue so I am poking around the car before I just go ahead and replace the tranny. I limped it to work today and put it on my scanner. The computer is reading the tranny shifting into all gears and the VSS has a signal. I pulled the codes and this is what I have.
172 - 02 switch (lack of) (first two most likely because the care was not warmed up as the CE light is not on while running or driving)
176 - 02 switch (lack of)
212 - IAM input to PCM spout circuit grounded
214 - cylinder ID CKT failure
543 - Fuel pump CKT - Batt. to PCM open
646 - Incorrect gear ratio obtained for 2nd gear.
Also it looks as if the car had a remote start on it at one time as there is some splicing and dicing in the main harness (under the throtttle body area)
My biggest question is on the last code. What does that mean? What causes this? All help and input on all codes is much appreciated. I am also fuzzy on codes 543 and 212.
