ATF fluid

Was wondering what brand fluid people are using? On my to do list after modding the car.

Drain intervals are probably more important than the brand, but most often (from what I have seen) people are using Motorcraft, Amsoil, and Royal Purple with good luck. If you have a 2010-12 SHO, you should consider doing the oil/transmission cooler upgrade from the 13+, as pioneered by bpd.

I second on Manu's suggestion on doing the cooler upgrades. Trans temps on my '12 where right above the 200 degree mark, and that was cruising on the highway. Now with my '13 with the coolers from the factory the trans temp is 30 degrees cooler in the 170's now.

I personally do not like mixing transmission fluids. Unless you remove all of the fluid from the tranmission through the cooler lines, you will not get it out of the torque converter. That is why I use the original equipment Motorcraft Mercon LV. I have heard of VERY few transmission issues with the 6F55 regardless of the ATF brand. I think it is more important just to keep it fresh as SHOdded already said.
