111 means all systems pass - that is what you are shooting for!
117 means it sees the ECT as boiling - the circuit is grounded. This needs to be fixed.
217 means coil 3 circuit failure - this definitely needs to be fixed.
654 means that the pcm did not see the trans as being in park when you ran the test. This could be because you didn't have it in park (operator error) or because the MLP sensor on top of the trans is mis-adjusted or bad. If the MLP is bad, it can create significant havoc, so you should check that one out too.

ok thanks for the info but how do I fix a 117 "means it sees the ECT as boiling" is there a part or what am I looking for

And as far as coil 3 circut failure do I need a new coil pack or un plug the spark plug wire from 3 and plug it back in

And as far as the trans not being in park My car is an mtx and I had it in neutral and the parking brake dosent work so could this be my problem as far as this is concerned

Any help is greatly appreciated

probably a stupid question but the coil pack is the rectangle thing that all the spark plug wires plug into right? and it just so happens that my dad had one out of his 89 that he parted out and it looks in good shape so would that work.

Yes, that is the coil pack, and yes the 89 part will work.

The engine coolant temp sensor is bad or the wiring to it is shorted.

where is the engine temp sensor and how can you tell if it is shot or if it is not properly grounded. Also my engine temp on the counsol normally stays between a and low m or mid m if i get on it

thanks for the help
I will replace the coil pack tonight after work

Back in Michigan ... again.
Let's hold the phone for a second here. Is your SHO actually running bad or are you just getting the CE light?

654 shouldn't be popping up in an MTX car, unless you miscounted the flashes. And if you had a bad coil, I'd expect the car to have a rather pronounced miss to it.

Any symptoms other than the ce light?

The car dosent seem to be running bad I just replaced the wires on it and it has more power but seems like it might have lost a little since the wires have been on after the first few weeks like it might not be fireing on all cylendars but im no expert so cant say for sure. The cel comes on and off intermittantly and I was curious so I pulled codes and these are what came up. As for the 654 I am just as supprised. Like I said previously The parking brake isnt working so I just leave in gear could that be why the code is showing.

Would it hurt to replace the coil pack and erase the codes just to see what happens as it dosent look like it is that hard of a fix
