I'm just wondering because the problem I am having with my tranny is a little strange. Sometimes my transmission works perfectly fine. Other times I will lose 4th gear and once I even lost 3rd. When I lose the gear I pull over to the side of the road, put my car in park, let it sit for about 30 seconds or so, put it back in gear, and pull back out onto the road. Usually when I do this my transmission starts shifting normally again and I gain my gears back?!?! Also when my tranny is acting up and I am out on the highway, every time I go over even the smallest incline in the road it shifts down into third gear.
My tranny fluid is full and clean, although the tranny filter is still the original I believe. I currently have 125,000 miles on my car. Are there any sensors that could be causing me to lose 4th and sometimes 3rd or am I looking at something more?
On a side note I have also noticed that the power delivery is not as smooth as normal and I have quite a bit of black soot in my exhaust tips. Could this be O2 sensor related...would the 02 sensors have any effect on my tranny? Any help would be appreciated very much. I'm just in the process of buying my first house and these problems are really not in the budget but I would like to get her fixed before the house payments start anyways! Sorry for the long post.
Thanks,
Brett
