AR924 Wheels and hub centric rings

I swapped my winter tires back on, with my OEM wheels, those darn plastic hub centric rings were stuck from my summer wheels so I had to pry them off and they broke.

I have AR924's with my summer tires, my question is, how important are the silly plastic hub centric rings when I go to put the summer tires back on?

I know what they are supposed to do, but does it really cause that big of an issue not having them, as long as you aren't a knucklehead about putting the lug nuts on?

In my experience you have to be really careful to snug up the lug nuts evenly in order to keep the wheel centered without the centering rings. I think they are worth having, so I would buy another set and then use some never-seize or similar when I put them on.

I’ve been able to get away with not using hub rings. You just need to do what Rubydist said. But this time around I’m going to use some bc my spacers are 2” and if it’s slightly off it’ll probably be a lot more noticeable. I'm pretty sure I found the sizes, 72.6 to 63.4, but wanted to make sure those are the sizes. (especially if I'm going to drop $99 on them)

And for my next question... what makes the $99/4 better than this set of 4?

I would buy that cheaper set. I paid $99 for mine but they are from my hub to the wheel spacers 71.5. From the wheel spacer to my wheels is too thin to make a hub ring they said. I guess if that company doesn’t currently offer the size you need it’s $99 for a custom set.

To answer that.....absolutely nothing..plastic are $5, Aluminum $13. I have the $5 StanceMagic and they fit perfectly. dead on according to my digital caliper and haven't cracked.. buy 2 sets, but definitely use rings.

As was mentioned, the difference is hub-centered versus lug-centered. In the past, there were mfrs that were lug Centric. And if you are careful to evenly torque the lugs, you're fine. I've had shops, in recent history, that have lost a ring on occasion. For my FWD cars, I just put that wheel on the RR. If places like Tire Rack or Discount Tire still sell your wheels, they are able to replace them. Forget the cost, but it wasn't much.
