Anyone have any experience with these particular tires?

Well, I'm getting new tires to get the SHO rolling again, and I've narrowed it down to 4 I like. The car will likely never see snow again, so I'm not too worried about grip in the snow. To that end, does anyone have any opinions on:

- BFGoodrich gForce Sport (I've heard not so good things about wet traction)
- Kumho Ecsta ASX
- Kumho Ecsta SPT
- Toyo Proxes 4

The size will be 225/50 R17.

Thanks all. :thumb:

Hamal how do they compare with a wholly American manufacturer, Cooper Tire? I'd like to see you check out some of the high performance tires they offer!

I've got the G forces on my Audi right now. I have no complaints about wet traction and dry traction is insane. Snow traction however is not there, but these are my summers...

Only tires out of those I'd consider are the BFGs and Kumho SPTs. Either tire would do fine; their numbers on TireRack are similar.

I have a set of Proxes 225-55's TPT's on a set of slicers. You probably remember seeing them on my 91.

I paid way too much for them. The deals Ive been seeing lately on softer rubber, I regret buying them.

toyo proxes 4's are awesome, but yeah there expensive. Iv never had a problem shelling out big bucks for good tires though.

I've got the BF Goodrich gForce Sports in 225/55/16's on my SHO right now and they're awesome. Like wood_e, said, no wet traction problems here, and the dry traction is outstanding. I tried driving in the snow with them once... Once.

Ditto the G-Force Sports. I ran a set for a season (drove the rubber clean off em, I did), and I have absolutely NO complains about them. I'm either getting a set of those or a set of Falken Azenis RT 615s for my next tire purchase.

The Ecsta SPT is a superb tire for the price. Tire Rack will confirm this. I had a set; massive grip for the street, and tread wear shouldn't be too bad.

I have had a set of Kumho Ecsta SPT's on my 91 for about a year now and love them. Great traction and handling for a very attractive price.:thumb:

Mel, I looked into the Coopers, and they only really measure up to the Ectsa ASX's, at $30 more per tire. They don't come close to the other options.

That said, I'm probably going to go with the Ectsa SPT's. Oh, and after a little searching, I found a smoking deal on them at www.discounttiredirect.com

$340. Shipped.

Thanks for the insight everyone. :thumb:

Nevermind on discounttiredirect.com... I'm a re-re and put the wrong tire size in. :bonk:

I'm also probably going to go with the g-Force Sports, also. I gave Tirerack a ring to get their input, and their feedback was that the SPT's are a smidge better in the rain, with a slightly better ride comfort, while the g-Force Sports are better in the dry, and better for an aggressive driver (who, me? ).

It's neither of what you speak of, but summer UHP tires i'm running are GS-D3 F1 goodyears. So far... :hail: Haven't had any unpredictable handling situations so far. They nicely compliment the Quaife. I paid about $750 for the set w/ lifetime road hazzard. :salute:

Hankook's are pretty decent for the money...Untill you flat-spot them while trying not to hit a dump truck.

My friends are stupid.
