I have a 2013 SHO. I am planning on upgrading the intake, does anyone have any suggestions?
I am also considering lowering the suspension as well, does anyone have any recommendations and/or photos?

Take some time to snoop around the forum and get familiar with what is happening with these cars.

The engines come pretty well optimized, and the package responds well to tuning (altering the parameters of timing and fuel delivery).

Altering the suspension is possible and lowering can be done. There are some threads discussing what has been done to date.

Welcome SHO_girl.

Intakes need to be combined with upgraded downpipes and catbacks to pay dividends. Otherwise they are for looks/sound. If you want to do something on the "cheap", a dropin K&N filter has been shown to add a tiny bit of performance.

Suspension: mainly H&R springs. No coilovers for the 13+ as of yet, despite active pursuit of interested vendors (such as Megan Racing). You can also choose to change the stance a bit by cutting the rear coils half a turn. Change alignment with adjustable end links.

Bang for the buck for performance though, as sperold said, a tune is hard to beat!

Welcome to the community @SHO_girl !

We offer our Windstorm CAI that features a premium dry filter and a one piece molded tubing section. With a speed density intake system there is little to be had by adding an intake on a primarily stock vehicle. Your best bang for the buck is our custom tuning.

There are very few suspension mods available, because the Taurus platform is a VERY sturdy platform. There are a few companies that make lowering spring kits and a couple brake upgrade packages that are available. Other than that there is not much more room for improvement from that particular chassis.

I'm sorry, was there a question here? Still looking at your avatar! Kidding! Anyway, kind of surprised a 24 yr old girl would own a SHO vs a convertible Mustang or some other "younger, fun-factor," type vehicle. Just seems out of the demographic for a 4-door sedan. But hey, good for you!
I have the MDesign intake and love it! I also just installed H&R Springs and the car looks like it should from the factory! I can't believe how HIGH these cars sit - look like 4x4 trucks!

If you're looking at "cold" air intakes for performance, there really isn't much of a gain to be had for the cost. A lot of people are just buying a K&N drop in panel filter for the stock box.

But, the aftermarket options do add some turbo noise, not a lot...some

K&N system not recommended

Windstorm/Airaid adds a nice little sound but needs easy mod of foam to seal to hood better (what I run).

MDesign has best look and a little sound addition. When I tested it the only thing I didn't like was how the IAT1 sensor fit into it.

Suspension, pretty sure your only option for the '13+ is H&R. I have an '11 with coilovers. Seeing as no one has shared a pic yet, this is with coilovers not lowered all the way and is pretty similar drop the the H&R'S I think.

I agree with Rich. I gave the MDesign a shot and love it. However, the point of insertion for the air sensor could be improved imop. No issues after after a month so it seems to work. Otherwise its flawless.

Doesn't the air come in from the fender side? Being that that is a closed system how does it perform better over stock

Did you notice a power improvement at all?
One of the reasons i chose them over the others was the claim that you will see less soot in the tailpipes. so it sounds like it will be efficiently burning fuel. Plus there's the wow factor. Its looks purdy.

Have you noticed less soot buildup?

I've seen zero soot on the tailpipes since I started mixing E/85.

I am sure the MDesign is a fine product but I cannot imagine how or why it would have anything to do with tailpipe soot. Additional ethanol could burn more cleanly so I totally understand how using some E85 could make a difference.

Are you adding E/85 to each tank? Or just once in a while?
I put 2 gallons in yesterday after filling with 93... My tailpipes are black after only about 200 miles.
