Any problem turning engine backwards?

Specifically, when measuring valve shim clearance is there any problem with turning the engine backwards as well as forward?

This is an automatic, so to rotate it I plan on using a ratchet and socket on the crank shaft bolt which will be torqued to spec and not loose. The spark plugs will be loosened to release compression.

Its fine so long that the crank bolt is torqued when your done. I did it on my 93 ATX w/ no problem
