Sorry for the novel in advance, any help is appericated!!! thanks

Any engineers here? i have a situation with my 13 taurus. 8/1 it was towed in to a dealer not of my choice but its the only place roadside assistance would take it and i understand the reasoning. Number #3 injector and spark plug was replaced due to the poor running condition and cel codes of such. Drove for a week (roughly 100 miles) to make sure it wasn't just leftover residue or maybe the tech was alittle messy. And i visibly looked like **** for a leak and could not find one, but could smell fuel. I took it into the every dealer and techs nightmare THE RECHECK. or PRO's as i like to call them. (previous repair order) They had vehicle for 3 days and claimed no visible leak or smell and deemed safe to drive per Shop Foreman. Wifers and I went out to dinner since it was Friday night got home and after about 30minutes from being home took out the trash, opened door to the garage and the fuel smell slapped me in the face. Saturday i contacted Ford Corp. and they created a case number for my issue and i was referred to a regional Customer Service Manager in my area who handles problems like this and was told monday i would be contacted by someone. So Sunday i changed the oil and did a little test, i got it nice and warm let it idle for 15 minutes in driveway after oil. Placed car in garage and waited 20 minutes, asked wifers to go check and see if she could smell anything and not to my surprise it was yes. Went out an hour later and still there. The smell is gone by the morning. I was called Monday by my regional service person and she suggested i take it to a dealership of my choice in hopes they could do better. Now its been a week (monday-monday) and i just got a call saying the samething from my service adviser and this dealership has claimed to do a fuel system pressure test and an injector test and of course a visual test. They advised me they would keep it another day and check it out. I have been nice and understanding this whole time and kind of at my wits end. I am ready to get rid of this car and get something else. I am just angry that i am at this point i should not have to want a new car because of this issue. (its a 13 with 33,000miles on it and i only owe 16 thousand) I really don't want to start over on something else. My wife and I are expecting our first child by October 1st and i really do not have the energy or time or will to stress over this as i am already stressed about all the things that involve becoming a parent. I am not crazy and neither is my wife, it has a problem! I feel the leak is under the intake somewhere, (being direct injected they are all under there and you have to pull it to get it them but you already knew that probably) like at the injector or on one of the fuel line connections. I should i demand/suggest they pull intake and check/redo everything the other deal did? I feel like i am backed into a corner here........
And the icing on the cake this is all under warranty.

Sorry you are running into so many problems, really sucks :( Assume for now that the dealer did the original work properly and did not forget to hook up any lines (there are a ton, and all over the place).

Is the car running well otherwise, but for the fuel smell?

Can you smell any fuel in the engine bay area? If not, it MAY be due to a crack in the FDM, like in the recall for some of the 2013 SHOs. Even if your SHO wasn't part of the original recall, that is worth checking.

Another possible source of smell is the EVAP system/canister. If the shield that protects the canister looks damaged, you may find a damaged canister underneath.

it runs decent for the most part, Im located close to Houston, TX so 100 degree and 100% humidity days are the current norm. Yes i can smell fuel in the engine bay and while running, also if it nice and warm and say you run into the store or bank and come back out and start car you get it through the ac vents for a few secs. i have explained very specifically to the dealer the times i have and when and how i can smell it. FDM not sure what that is.
shortly after i got the car that fuel recall came out and i went and gotten it taken care of

Have you had any issues with filling your gas tank such as constant clicking off on the pump while not full? I had a work van that ended up having a clogged fuel vent tube which caused a gas smell everytime I drove it. Also did the dealership pull all the plugs after you went back to make sure all was good... I am always on the lookout for what caused the injector or plug to foul up in the first place. Good luck on your car, I know the feeling of getting the run around... Maybe a Lincoln dealer would be good for a third opinion.

Edit:a word

Thanks for the reply. No I haven't experienced that. I tried to get all the details,in my story but so much has happened. Car went to dealer first time not running, literally died on me while driving. No problems with car before that, they replaced injector #3 and spark plug. After I reiecve vehicle back after "repairs" is when I started noticing the fuel smell. Only one conclusion in my mind. It was something they removed/unplug/unhooked and put back together that's causing this issue, I assume.

I had a similar issue in my 2010 it turned out to be the Schrader valve in the rear of the passenger side engine compartment. its a pressed together valve that was weak on some vehicles...the gas (under pressure) seeps out slowly around the compression seal, and on hot day and after extended highway use was very string through my vents.

I went to Ford and they advised they had no replacement without a full change over fo the forward fuel (so much for doing that at approx 3k.... for the job).

I relieved the fuel line pressure and then cleaned the back of the valve off with acetone. Mixed up some gorilla snot (epoxy) and seamed it all over the back of the valve.....let it sit for 24 h to cure fully.

No issues since.
