Wow, that does look nice indeed. I happen to also have the tan leather steering wheel, but it has been deteriorating since I bought my SHO last April. Any tips on removing the outter leather from the steering wheel would be greatly appreciated! :thumb:

Yeah I did mine a long time ago. Not sure if I was the first, but up there.

I have a G2 Mocha / black as shown coming up in a classified ad here shortly with a ton of other parts as well. It's at the house, ready to ship.

IMHO it looks a bit ugly (particularly the bottom) too skinny... but to each his own... whats that inside the steering wheel gap to the left of the tach?

is the M8 wheel thicker? it appears so in the picture.

My GTi has a sweet stock wheel in it....thick and firm. The SHOs is raggity and thin, and I dislike it...

one difference to note, looks like the MkVIII wheel has the black backer piece as well, where using the SHO wheel retains the original coloring on the backer, just the wheel rim itself becomes black.

As for thinner wheel, yes, not as much as like the old GM / Caddy wheels during the 80's, but I personally find thick wheels uncomfortable.

Bel 815STi remote radar module in my pic.

BTW, am looking for $30 plus shipping for the wheel, $50 plus for the wheel with airbag. ;)

this is the wheel that you removed that leather from?

Actually, a guy I know did this to his 94 MTX after I did, because he liked the look of it. I bought the car & ended up parting it, but kept the wheel.

ok i just cut all the threads and very easily pulled it off today... the glue/residue just rolls off, and makes a mess on the carpet...so have the shopvac ready! looks much better though.
