I recently did some work on the passenger side driveshaft (working around the sensor), and now that I have it all together, the anti-lock brake light comes on, and stays on after starting to drive a few seconds.

The break pedal has the pulsating feel (like the anti-lock is working) for a few seconds, then stops.

How is the easiest way to find out what is going on? Does the anti-lock set a code in the computer like other sensors do?

Last night I hooked my code reader up to the anti-lock connector on the firewall.

I got 6 or 7 codes (I left them at home, or I would post them here), but 3 or 4, and the very last one were all relating to the right front sensor.

If I "fought" with this to remove it recently, is it likely that I damaged the sensor?

Is AutoZone, NAPA, etc the best place to get a replacement...and does anyone know the cost?

Also, do you just pull and twist on it to get it off the spindle? I removed the retainer bolt, but had a tough time getting it removed (finally gave up, and did not have to remove it).

I thought my abs relay had went out, and I checked autozone, and they told me they didnt carry it and I would have to go to advance auto, dealership, or another parts carrier. So I doubt autozone has it.

Just my 2 cents.

I looked at a couple of sites for the abs module. Rockauto.com had the cheapest at $194.00, $50 core is included in that price. So, $144 after sending your old one to them.

You can get a new RH front ABS sensor from RockAuto.com. It's Wagner part F121038 and it sells for $40.75. It's pressed into the spindle. You may have to hammer on the old one to get it out.

By "pressed" do you mean special tools, or once you get the old one out, you can hand press the new one on?

I am trying to decide whether to take it to the dealer or replace this myself.

To wind this thread up, I did break down and take it in to the dealer, and it was the RH sensor they replaced ($90 sensor and $80 labor). I thought the sensor was the problem, but hated to put it on, and then be something else causing the problem (ie., I did not want to "bet" on my diagnostic skills!!).

Thanks for all your help.

my light was on and come to find out it was the rear antilock sensor that was damaged when the wheel/brake assembly was removed. I got it replaced for $35 inc. labor.
