So I know this is well discused. I but I wanted to get some feedback or info on putting a better tranny cooler in. I know the most common solution is to put the gen2 cooler on. Is it a pretty simple bolt on or is there more modification that needs to be done? I know there are also other options out there but cost wise would the gen2 cooler still be the best option.
Im asking these questions because im under the impression my tranny is running awful hot when I use hard throttle like around 80 or 90 and with it being in the high 90s here im sure the tranny is burning up... and with the sunroof tilted you can smell what seems to be burnt tranny fluid. Fluid level is great last I checked

well from what i have read it seams that the stock atf cooler on the v6's are one of the best designed for that application(could be wrong though). I cant imagine it being a pita to install. Also I would imagine that if you were to add it in there along with the stock one on the v8 it should help keep the temps down.(how much who knows) If you are planning on going to the convention i could bring down one that I held on to after I did the atx/mtx swap.

From my own experience I would say gen2 ATX cooler will be the best to give your tranny the cooling it needs. I have mine in series with the stock cooler and I deleted the cooling from the radiator. Only getting cooled by the two coolers in series. Before I used to have a B&M cooler but still had some slipping due to heat after long trips; replaced the B&M for the Gen2 cooler and no more issues.
I'been running my car like that for more than 4yrs and zero problems. I might have to add that my car has over 207k with the stock tranny.

That would be nice. But im not sure if I can go or not. Lack of funds for gas and lodging and what not. Sucks cause its not that far from me and I would love to see so many SHOs all in one place. As far as the work does anyone know of a good write up for a setup like shomex's and how hard it would be? Also when you had slipage was it in every gear or mainly around OD?

Do you have a gen 2 cooler? If not, I have one laying around I could send to you for cheap.
