Recently my Mom's 93 ATX has been running at the N on the temp guage. I checked the t-stat housing with a laser and the temp was at 207 (guage on the O) . A/C running with the fans going (sounded like the high setting). We had the system flushed and new t-stat put in a few months back. The system was really nasty before the flush. Now what concerns me is that even with the A/C off when the fans kick on it doesn't bring the temp back down. It stays at the N. Running down a flat stretch of hiway at 60 MPH it will SLOWLY come down the R. I am comparing this to our other 93 ATX. Both cars running original waterpumps. No leaks as far as I can see. I really don't want it running at these temps because the ATX was just rebuilt and I don't want it to get killed with heat.

I know that 207 is with in the limits but it looks like it is about 220 at the N. This just doesn't seem right, especially when running at hiway speeds. Right after the flush & t-stat it always ran cooler but that was in cooler outside temps. And I know the fans are working... Any suggestions?

Our ATX had a similar problem, and it was buildup on the front of the radiator - It looked like a Lint trap in a clothes drier. Its worth checking that just to be sure. If the fans are on and it is not cooling down, chances are the radiator does not have the heat transfer capacity it should.
