after reading old posts on the factory amp i still have a question.

this is the deal, i have a 45x4 jvc deck and some jensen speakers i scored at wal-mart. the car also has aftermarket 3.5" speakers in the dash, wired in parrall just like stock. i think they are hooked up right, no thanks to ford's clever wire color choices. when the amp is operational and once a certain volume level is reached, it pops. like a bad ground wire noise, until i reset it by turning the car off and on again. i know the amps is supposed to be a low level imput, but is there anyway to intergrate it into a respectable radio system. anyone have a fix or an idea? thanks. yeah.. well.. i wired the door and dash speakers in series rather than stock parallel setup. i can now use the stock amp with my aftermarket head unit. it doesn't cut out anymore and it kinda rocks.

I was in at a local audio shop looking at replacing the component set in the doors. (had the intrior door panel off to fix a squeak, figured it'd be a good time to upgrade) Anyway, like everyone says, Ford/JBL has the system so F&#@~! up that its really not worth the hassle to splice into the existing system. If your any kind of an audiophile you should "do it right" and just run new wires.

Don't get me wrong, if you spend the time and splice in, it'll definately sound better, I've done this in the past, only to have later "done it right" and believe me, its worth the extra cash to do it right the first time!

not so Konos, in my opinion... I found the plug harness that plugs into the 2 plugs behind the radio, and gives you what each wire is... I then put component 4X6's in the front doors, , mounted the crossovers in the trunk, and sent some rcas to the trunk for the subs.. Sounded AWESOME with stock JBL amp, and seperate amp for subs... I did it all with what was there, and used the harness in the trunk for the crossovers... Just my 2 cents!

thanks for the replies fella's. konos, you have a good point. the speaker wires do run from the dash to the trunk and back again, twice. while running heavy gauge wires to the speaker right from the deck would be the best for maybe a competion system, i just wanted decent sound and didn't want alot of hassle.

this is the sad part. with the front speakers wired up in a series configuration, everthing sounds better with the amp bypass harness installed. i'm fortunate that my deck can power the speaker itself. you see, i'm getting a good amount of distortion at the high end of the spectrum from the amp, this might be due to have the music too loud.

maybe the high level sound is interfering with the sound quality of the stock amp. in that case i could try to hookup the deck's rca connections to the stock amp instead of the deck's speaker wires. i could use the soche' harness to do that. but for right it is loud, sounds good and was inexpensive.... mission accomplished.
