Following up to LotusDrivers thread, I would like to also chime in.

I have been fairly quiet for the past 4 months while my SHO has been sitting at the dealer.

Ford finally stepped up and bought it back for a problem that they could not fix, despite continuous repairs.

I'm not going into all the gory details of it. Basically it drug out so long and I ended up having to call Ford and open a case while the car sat at the dealership and they continued to change parts on it to no avail.

So, here's my 2011 402A with 12S Performance package. Dealer was unable to find a 12S car out there. I ended up finding this one on ebay, and they transferred it in.

I'll post my own pics of it when I get it home tonight.

I haven't been on lately cause I thought my sho was fixed, I was wrong. Once again having trans / shifting problems. What is the process that I would have to do to get a buy back or replacement? Tired of back and forth to the dealer.

I would be interested in finding out where these buybacks end up. My guess is they aren't scrapped. I'm sure Ford tries one more time to fix them and then sells them. I wonder what dealers are willing to sell "branded title" vehicles. I would think they sell for quite a discount.

For instance if you can but a used 2010 for 30K, how much less would a branded title vehicle have to be for you to be interested? Remembering that the branded title follows the car for its lifetime and affects resale and financing for many years.

Most if not all are suppose to go to auction. Then, you get some who are creative and take them to title clearing states like Texas (I believe is one of them) where you can actually re-title the car and loose the branding... at least thats what I hear CAN happen.

They might get dissected to see how things are holding up like the engine, trans, and other things then crush them. Auto manufacturers do stupid things with cars. The extreme light weight neon srt-4 was crushed because it didn't have a use anymore. One of the engineers offered to buy it or at least hold an auction for it but they crushed it instead. Click the link if you aren't familiar with the car. http://www.modified.com/features/0411scc_srt_4_extreme_lightweight/index.html

Even if they brought them to a title washing state. Would the branding not appear on Carfax or a similar service.

If the branding wasn't divulged to a buyer, I can only image the lawsuits that would be involved and the bad PR not only for Ford but for the dealer that sold the vehicle.

I have to believe a buyback, lemon, salvaged vehicle is worth substantially less.

From what I understand, if the issue is fixed, they will go to auction marked as a buyback or in Fords terms "Re-Acquired Vehicle" and it will show up on Carfax, and if a Ford Dealer buys it, they MUST disclose that it was a buyback.

You are right, title washing will be noted in the carfax. I bought a Mustang GT last year with a clean Mass title and when I went to sell it, the purchaser wanted to see a carfax and it mentioned that it had a salvage title in NY and at some point title washing was done, not sure what state it was done in though.

ok, now, who's going to tell me that NEw SHOs have no problems at all? Everything is fine with them. Lotusdriver is probably crazy... anyway, i wish all of you luck with your cars and no more issues.
