Someone broke into my car and stole my in dash Kenwood CD player. When they were removing the radio they broke the end of the plug that goes to the factory amp in the truck. It is a gray cable with a chrome box shape fitting on it. I did have the amp by-passed with a kit I bought at the local radio store. The kit came with a plug on one end that plugged into the silver box fitting and had wires on the other end that I think went to the speaker output on the cd deck. I might be wrong on the wiring but I do know that I need this plug to be working. My question is, can this cable be cut and have a new end spliced on it? Ford has the cable for $60.11 but I do not want to have to re-run the cable all the way back to the trunk. I was hoping to find this cable at a junk yard and remove the end and splice it together with my cable. Thanks for your help.......

Sure you can replace the connector. On my 89, the amplifier input harness has a connector junction behind the passenger side kick panel. You would only need to re-run the cable from the head unit to there, if you can get that section (and if yours is the same as my 89).

Otherwise, I saw a connector kit intended for your situation just last week. If only I could remember the exact site (sorry...)

I have the cables from my 95. If you need them, let me know.

How long is the amp cable? Does the amplifier input harness have a connector junction behind the passenger side kick panel like the post above?

Steve,
Did you ever think of the web site you saw the repair kit on?
