Where is the Ambient Air Temperature Sensor located and what exactly does this do?
I know that the Air Charge Sensor is located in the side of the air filter box ahead of the MAF, but what does this sensor do?
The reason for asking, I am looking at replacing the MAF sensor, (funny how it can be removed from the meter but to replace it you have to buy the whole thing meter and all). I just thought I would take a look at replacing these sensors as well, who knows, the problem I have been having may be caused by one of these sensors.

The ambient air temp sensor is in front of the radiator. It tells the eatc what the outside temperature is so it can do a better job of controlling the cabin temp, as well as allowing for the outside temp reading on the eatc display.

The air charge temp sensor tells the pcm what the inlet air temp is, so it does a better job of knowing what spark timing the engine can run and also its one of the variables for calculating the fuel delivery quantity.

Okay thanks, then the Ambient Air Temp Sensor has nothing to do with engine performance so I can obviously rule that one out. The Air Charge Sensor can affect performance, but probably my best bet is to replace the Maf and go from there, (like everyone on here has said to do), been talking about this for some time now, just wanted to get caught up on some things around home before spending the funds on the car.

Yeah Ambient sensor is bolted to the fiberglass radiator shell and only (AFAIK) sends data to the Eatc.

I miss my SF painted radiator support. :(
