am i wrong? (aftermarket fpr)

i know most people say to go with the shonut fpr. its bolt on, it does whats needed, and at 280 for the base the price is alright being bolt on. but is that really our only option? i dont see why something like this wouldn't work.

yes you would need to come up with your own lines and fittings. but would that really cost 180 more? there's also cheaper return style regulator to be found. this unit just seemed to have a really nice flow range for the price.

so am i wrong?

Could you make it work? Probably. But is the additional cost and time of making it work still going to be less than Josh's unit that just bolts right in and you KNOW it'll work? Probably not.

Also, If im going to mod my SHO, im going to buy what I can from our vendors (depending on if they offer what im looking for) seeing as without them there could be no future for this dieing platform.

You could use whatever FPR you'd like, but the FPR generally costs less than the fittings and hoses you need to buy to make it work, plus your time. I put together my own fuel setup for the STi using an Aeromotive FPR... With lines and fittings (not counting the rails and injectors, I have around $600 in lines and fittings (FPR was $200).

FYI, the regulator you posted looks like the one used in my SHOnut kit without fittings. If you built your own the exactly like Josh's, you *might* save $10 and you still have to cut hose and install fittings.

Personal opinion, if the above is what you're aiming to do, price it all out counting all the fittings, hose, etc... Then buy what Josh offers ready to go.

Alright I just wanted to make sure there was nothing special about josh's fpr. I dont know how much fittings cost, never really looked into it. I'll see what I can price out just for fun.

On another note. The high flow fpr has the regulator before the rail. Both rails are feed but the fuel is regulated and returned before they are feed. For those who dont know. Anyways I read a while back that, that set up can cause the injectors last to receive fuel not have enough cause a lean condition ine those clys. Myth or truth? How about a dual feed with stock style return (after rails)? Has that been done? Or is it un-needed. And im talking about a high hp sho. Say 600hp turbo set up.

I've never seen it done but it doesn't sound like a bad idea. Although, I think I did see a custom fuel delivery setup a long time ago. Might have been in a non Taurus, SHO motor swap somewhere.

The basic kit runs the regulator just like the stock unit in terms of flow path. The upgraded version runs the same regulator, but is designed as you discribed feeding both rails separately with no return after the rails (but does return after the FPR) I've been running the latter setup for 5 years and works great. Even on a mildly boosted motor, the basic kit is plenty (I made 381whp with it).
