My SHO finally left me on the side of the road. My 93 had a bad habit of that but this is a first for the 99. All signs point to the alternator. Had it towed to my mechanic. He said he would take a look at it tomorrow. Anyone have an idea what this should run? It looks like it would be a pain in the @$$ to get too. Thanks.

That estimate is about average.

Please reduce the size of your signature, it's WAY too big. The allowed size is listed in the forum TOS linked in my sig.

I agree, both about the sig being too large and about the quoted price being too high. I would expect somewhere near half that amount, in US dollars. In Canada, replacing an alternator is about a $250 job in Canadian bucks, and they are worth 1/3 less.

Thank you and sorry about the signature. I didn't know about the limit.

I bought mine in 97 brand new and just before the warranty ran out so did my alternator and regulator. I had quite a fight with Ford and they finally agreed to pay a small amout of my $800 bill with the Ford dealership in Bow, NH. After making some calls around I was told that all makers using that alternator were on a voluntary recall and that Ford had elected at that time not to participate. I gotta tell ya I was quite proud (not) to watch my beautiful SHOGIRL head down the highway on that flatbed!

Good Luck,

$800? Wow. My alternator better not be anywhere near that or I just may have to get off my lazy butt and try and do it myself. :bonk:

Yeah. I wasn't either. First time I ever had to have her towed. The 93' was like every other month. I feel for some of you Generation two owners. :frown:
