I have a 92 MTX and it was not pulling more then 12V running so I bought a new interstate Battery and even went and put a new 90 amp Alternator on the car. Well 2000 Miles and 4 months later the battery is dead again and no good. I just got a free replacement battery and it starts fine but only runs 12V when running. So if I have a NEW Battery and a NEW Aternator I just took it to autozone for them to test and they are telling me the Alternator is not charging the battery right so what could it be???? Bad Alternator again??

I want to have a higher output so if I take it to a place that re does them can I up the 90amp to a 180amp with out doing alot of mods?

Any input would be great

Thank You

I saw somebody get four bad alternators in a row once. Don't be surprised. I'd get it rebuilt by an alternator/starter rewind shop. Those usually get better results than buying another bad remanufactured one.

x2.. I've had issues with "new" starters too...

rebuilds are usually cheaper, and they actually replace all the worn parts.. :) If you go to get it rebuilt, you may have to wait a day or two for a part to come in. I know my guy here in town stopped stocking the stuff for my 92, and I had to wait for him to order the diode pack I think it was...

Just something to keep in mind.. the newer alternators are pretty "standard" still.
