i just got home to indiana from 6 months in orlando florida. once i got home where it is pretty cold i noticed my car didnt start quite as easily as before. figured since it was cold the battery may need to be replaced. eventually had to jump start car, got it home and let it sit in the garage overnight instead of outside and the car started fine this morning. i hooked up a voltmeter to the battery cables with the engine running and no loads the voltage was 14.00 volts. turned the headlights, rear defroster, and the heat on and the voltage dropped to 12.01 volts. this seemed pretty low to me. should i not worry about it? should i replace the battery? alternator? both? the battery is maybe a year and a half old, the alternator is probably original. its a 92 so i can imagine the alternator as see better days. i apologize for the long post but any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks, bryan

It might be either, or both...

Pull em both out and take them to AutoZone for a free test. Maybe they can charge your battery in car and load test it. That will narrow it down.

Definately an electrical problem.
